Editorial standards
Independent research is only worth anything if you can trust how it was made. This is how we work — what we hold ourselves to, how we handle conflicts, and how we fix mistakes.
Our principles
Independence first
We are an editorial platform, not a brokerage. We do not sell property and we earn no commission on a transaction, so we can describe a development’s weaknesses as readily as its strengths. No advertiser, developer, or partner has any say over what we publish.
Primary sources over hearsay
Where we state the law, we work from the statute — the 2010 foreign-ownership law, the 2019 Trust Law, the relevant sub-decrees — not from what an agent told a buyer. Market figures are attributed, dated, and presented with their limitations rather than as certainties.
On-the-ground reality
Cambodia is a thin-data market. We combine the documentary record with on-the-ground checks — what is actually built, occupied, and maintained — because the gap between the brochure and the building is where buyers lose money.
We mark what is illustrative
The platform is being built in the open. Some content is general research; some is still sample editorial used to develop the site, and the data index and directories launch with clearly-labelled sample data. Every illustrative piece is flagged where it appears — we never pass placeholder material off as sourced fact.
Who writes this
Research Cambodia is written and edited by an independent team that follows the Cambodian property market full-time — the law, the developers, the neighbourhoods, and the deals. We publish under the masthead rather than as individual personalities because the standard is the same regardless of who holds the pen: every piece is researched against primary sources and reviewed before it goes out. Where a specific methodology applies — as with the price & yield index or our developer-vetting approach, we publish it so you can judge the work. You can also see the diligence in practice in our anonymised deal reviews.
Conflicts & disclosure
Our directories are not paid placement. No developer pays to appear in the developer directory, and no professional pays to appear among our trusted partners — listings reflect our own assessment. We may, in time, earn an introduction fee when a reader chooses to work with a partner; wherever that is the case we disclose it on the profile, and it never changes an assessment. Our editorial judgement is not for sale.
Accuracy & corrections
We aim to be right, and to be clear when we are not. Cambodian law and markets change, so we date our work and revise it as the facts move. If you spot an error — a stale figure, a changed regulation, a misread detail — tell us and we will check it and correct the record. Material corrections are noted on the page.
